Rites of Passage for Young People
In our Western society, there are few ways in which our “tribe” acknowledges the formal steps our young people make towards adulthood. Most of these celebrations are usually done within a “party” framework. I believe that many young people could find a stronger sense of purpose, and clarity on their life path, if a meaningful ceremony could serve as their “initiation” into the next stage of their learning. |
| This type of ceremony is also appropriate to use when blended couples begin their partnership together, as a way of acknowledging and welcoming children of the previous relationships into the current family unit. These might be daunting ideas to consider for some …. but I believe that others might welcome a chance to celebrate life transitions with their young ones. |
